Lawyer Deolane Bezerra does not deny being a fan of aesthetic procedures. Last Tuesday (03), she was asked about which interventions she has already had and she replied, “All the ones you can imagine, my love! The nymphoplasty is not a novelty, much less among celebrities. In addition to Deolane, other personalities have confessed to having undergone the intervention, such as Maíra Cardi, Geisy Arruda, Viviane Tube (mother of Viih Tube) and Letícia Santiago (ex-BBB14).
But after all, what is it for and how is the procedure done?
Also known as labiaplasty, the intimate surgery has the function of reducing the hypertrophy of the small vaginal lips. In some cases, the indication is functional, while others seek a more “harmonious” aesthetic for the vulva.
The gynecologist Anamarya Rocha, from JK Advanced Aesthetics — a reference clinic in nymphoplasty in São Paulo —, responsible for the surgeries of Deolane and Viviane Tube, explains the subject in detail.
Currently, with high technology, the laser procedure can be considered minimally invasive, according to Anamarya: “Here [at JK], the nymphoplasty has a good recovery, better than the conventional one, because we perform the procedure with the Monalisa Touch laser, the most modern technology in terms of minimally invasive surgery of the vulva. This device not only performs ablation but also regenerates the tissue, facilitating recovery”.
The surgery is performed under local anesthesia and oral sedation. The duration is short — in some cases, in less than an hour. For these reasons, the postoperative period is also considered “smooth”, without the need for hospitalization.
“I advise to do cryotherapy (ice application to the site) for at least the first 48 hours and I prescribe medication for home use for about five days. Sexual and leisure activities can resume one month after the procedure, and physical activities around 15 to 20 days, except for friction exercises in the intimate region, such as cycling”, explained the gynecologist.
Nymphoplasty, like any other plastic surgery, must respect the anatomy and the cutting limit, so that the nymphs (small vaginal lips) do not lose their functions of maintaining the lubrication of the region and protecting the vagina against bacteria. Therefore, the importance of consulting a qualified professional — a gynecologist specialist in functional regenerative and aesthetic gynecology or a plastic surgeon is evident.
